Discovered in 1969, the Cave of the Tayos (Cueva de los Tayos), in the Amazon jungle of Ecuador, is an enigmatic site full of history and mysteries still unsolved. Inhabited by the Shuar Indians, it has been explored by scientists and adventurers, captivated by artifacts and structures that defy known history. Come and discover the mystery for yourself!

Why tayos cave?

The name comes from the “tayos”, nocturnal birds that inhabit the depths of the cave and navigate in the dark using echolocation. To explore the cave is to immerse yourself in the world of these fascinating birds and the mystery of their unique subway environment.

Located in the Amazon rainforest, the Cueva de los Tayos is accessible through a traverse that crosses rivers and jungle trails. Guided tours include immersion in the Shuar culture, who care for this natural treasure. Tours are available year-round and are perfect for adventurers of any age.
